Oh For A Thousand Tongues To Hear

Today we had the honor of hosting a leadership conference for 138 local pastors.  You might have the image of seminary graduates, who have a congregation of hundreds.  But, these pastors serve in the slums, their churches are the streets, and their guide is the Holy Spirit.  Many of them only have an 8th grade education, but they know the Word of God.

After everyone was registered and seated, our speaker decided to open with some singing.  We had no idea what we were in for, as they rocked the house African style. Then they each spontaneously began praying to God out loud. My heart swelled as their volume rose.  They were completely uninhibited in their worship.

After that, they were seated and preceded to be lead step by step on how to study the Bible.  One of them had brought her baby with her and when she became fussy, I offered to walk her around. I promise, it was no sacrifice, as this little dumpling smiled up at me!

Their gift for coming was a brand new Life Application Bible. They were thrilled! And their renewed vision of spreading hope in a desolate place was renewed.  They continued to thank us, but we gleaned so much more from these brave people, whose love for the lost is so strong.
